Eckerd Drug Store - Austin Texas

The Eckerd Drug Store is located at the corner of Riverside and Pleasant Valley in Austin, Texas.  The project presented several challenges.

The site elevation needed an overall import of approximately 130,000 cubic yards of fill material to attain the required sub grade elevation.  This necessitated extensive retaining wall systems on the east boundary and relatively steep ramping on the west.  

The cost and potential negative appearance of the retaining wall were minimized by the use of a proprietary rock and geo-grid system that provided both economy as well as an attractive appearance.

The site was also lacking in water and sewer service and required off-site extensions of utility mains in Riverside Drive and boring beneath Riverside to reach the site.   

Despite the extensive site complications and an unseasonably wet Spring season,  the project was certified for occupancy 130 days after the receipt of the building permit.
